The next day we had a last snorkel in Suwarrow, while we were snorkelling we saw a big Hump head wrasse and two Grey reef sharks, Grey Reef Sharks are considered dangerous to divers. At mid day we left Suwarrow for Samoa. After we had got through the pass we put up the sails.
June 13th
On the morning of the 13th I woke up but it was still very dark, we had arrived in Samoa, but we couldn’t go in to anchor until the sun came up. When the sun came up we took the sails down and went into the harbour.
When we had anchored we turned on the air conditioning. Later on we tied the boat alongside the dock because the customs people were coming onboard. After we had seen six officials we untied ourselves from the dock and re anchored in the harbour. Later on we took the tender ashore to have lunch and get a hire car. After lunch Mummy, Daddy, Mike, Campbell, Daisy and Me went for a drive, first we drove over to a chief’s tomb which was covered in flowers.
We then went to a flea market which sold lots of local handcrafts. We then went to have a drink and a look at a shop. After we had a drink we went the local cinema and watched Shrek 3, It was really funny and I really enjoyed it. After that we went back to the boat.
The next day we went to have a look at Robert Louis Stevenson old house. Robert Louis Stevenson lived in that house in Samoa for the last four years of his life. He owned a lot of land and his house was in the middle of a big paddock surrounded by beautiful flowers and trees. When we arrived we got shown all the rooms in the house and some of the possessions that Robert Louis Stevenson collected on his travels around the world. We also saw some pictures of Robert Louis Stevenson and his family. After we had been shown the house we walked a big hill which was part of Robert Louis Stevenson’s, land to his grave. The locals carried Robert Louis Stevenson’s body all the way up the hill to bury him where he wanted to be buried, they did this because they had a lot of respect for him . Later on we went to the local cinema and watched Fantastic Four and the Silver Surfer.
The following day we drove around half of the island. It was really beautiful and there were some fantastic views. On the way back we came over a dirt track. We almost got the car stuck and at one point one of our wheels was hanging over the edge of the slope. Later on we went out to eat at a restaurant called Bistro Tatau, they did very good food.
The next day we drove around the other half of the island. We stopped to have a snorkel at a beautiful sandy beach. When we were driving along we went through some traditional villages where the houses had no walls, we also saw lots of wild pigs. On the way back to Apia we took the high rode where you had a fantastic view of Samoa. While we were driving Campbell left on a plane to Sydney. When we got back to the boat we left for Tonga.
The next day at 6:10am we crossed the date line so we only had six hours of Sunday before we went to Monday.
