Week 19 13th-19th

Vanuatu

The next day Mike, Daisy, Campbell and I took a taxi into town to go back to the water falls and also do some provisioning. Later on we had supper on the boat.

The next day we moved anchorages to an island called Epi. Mummy and Daddy went for a snorkel and saw some turtles, and then a local man called Douglas asked if we would like to go with him to see Dugongs the following day.

The next day Daisy was felling ill so only Daddy and I went to see the dugongs. We were shown around his island which was very nice and they had some fresh water pumps put in by a charity in England. We then went snorkelling with him for Dugongs. We saw four Dugongs and swam around with them for quite a while and then they left and we got out and went to the boat.

(Daddy messed up the camera so we had to download these photos of Dugongs from the Internet!)

When we got back Daisy was felling better, so we all went over to look for Dugongs but didn’t see any. Later on we had supper.

The next day we went to the main island and got some bread. It was a nice village and we saw the local children playing football.

The next day Daisy was better and we go and have another look for Dugongs. We didn’t see any but we saw a spotted eagle ray.

Later on we sailed over to another island called Malakula island and we anchored in the shelter of the Maskelyn islands which lie off it’s south coast. Later on we had supper and went to bed.

The next day Daisy, Mummy and I saw a pod of dolphins swim through the bay and we followed them in the tender, but they weren’t interested and they swam off so we came back to the boat. Later on Daisy, Mummy, Mike and I went to a sand bar which was nice and had some good coral.

Later on Mrs Nesbitt (AKA Campbell), Mike, Mummy, Daisy and I went ashore and played a game of football and cricket with the local villagers. Later on we had supper.

The next day Daddy, Mummy, Daisy and I went to the sandbar and then we sailed to a different anchorage. After we had anchored we saw a Manta Ray swim past the boat. Later on some locals came to the boat and gave us some fruit and veg, and we gave them some children’s t-shirts in exchange.
